Here I go, blog #1 for this new and exciting initiative.

I set up Yaakov! Media and Communications Planning because we are now living in a time of information overload.

Now more than ever it is a huge challenge for a business/organization to properly harness all the communication channels today to keep their contacts informed.

Faxes, letters, email, SMS, written blogs, video blogs, various social network sites, twitter etc. are only some of today’s communication channels available for sending people information.

What is a business/organization to do? Which communication channels should be used? Does one have to set up a presence on Facebook? Does one change how one uses email for communication purposes?

There are so many options and so many decisions to make.

The important concept to remember is that the world of communications is changing daily and, with that, people’s communication habits are changing too.

The key is to make an organization understand its target audiences properly, and ensure that it harnesses the correct communication channels for sending the appropriate information.

The Bottom Line: Send people information that they want, when they want, where they want it.

Sounds easy, but it is not so simple. However, it can be easily accomplished with a thought out strategy and detailed communications plan.
